In this post I will talk about my first impressions of Doris and Ellie.
I believe that doris cares a lot about the way she looks and maybe herself becoming famous. In the story on page 19 it says "All she knew was that every time there was an oppurtunity for Doris to sing or dance or act in Spectacle, off she rushed, bragging about her resume." This quote proves that Doris cares a lot about the way she looks and being famous. I think that Doris is a very self-indulged person and only cares about making it on top.
I believe that Ellie is almost the leader of the 8 kids who live on Witch tree lane. Everybody always turns to her when they are bored and expects her to deligate them and say what they should do. In the story on page 28 it says " 'I'm bored Ellie' said Domi......They look at Ellie expectantly." This quote proves that all the witch tree lane kids look up to Ellie. I believe that later in the book Ellie would carry her siblings through there parents getting divorced (if that happens) and be strong enough to deal with it and move on.
Those were very strong oopinions, (in which i agree.) Doris is really self consious of her looks. On page 20 she says " Younge and beautifull and always in the magazines.....wish i was her." Doris is only paying attention to looks and fam but not anyones personalities. Do you think that maybe Doris behaves this way 'cause she has nothing else to do in her life?
ReplyDeleteI also believe that Ellie is the leader, maybe because she's one of the oldest, or because she can connect to almost every kid. What do you guys think?

I agree. I think that Doris and Ellie have an interesting relationship because Doris is very concious of how she looks and Ellie doesn't really mind.
ReplyDeleteAnd Simonida, I agree with you that Ellie can connect to every kid. This shows she can be a sympathetic and strong person. In one of my blogs I talk about how Ellie is strong for others. I think this is a trait that makes her a good leader.
ReplyDeleteI agree Tess and Simonida. I find it interesting Simonida that you said she feels self-concious about her looks because that is all she has. Maybe you learn later in the book that Doris had nothing absoloutly nothing except for her looks.
