the ending!!!!!!!!

oh my gosh, oh my gosh OH MY GOSH!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't believe what happened in the end of Here Today! Why Doris abandoned her family again when the last time it failed miserably boggles my mind. She didn't get anywhere in New York so why does she think it will be different in Hollywood. In the story she says to prove why she wants to go to Hollywood is "I really would like to give my career another chance in Hollywood." This proves that Doris wants to go to hollywood and I believe drift farther and farther away from her family. Please post your comments below and tell me hat you think.

Doris's Decision!!!!!!!!

 I cant believe how selfish Doris was when she decides to go to new york and abandon her family. She spoils her family with donuts for breakfast then says "I have decided to go to New York City to pursue my dream of becoming a star." Doris decided to abandon her family for her own selfish reasons and can't even tell her kids when she'll be back. Next week lets see what happens to Doris's family after her decision and how Doris thinks about it.

Nan and Poppy vs Doris

I believe that Ellie, Albert and Marie like Nan and Poppy who they've pretty much just met better than Doris. A quote that proves that on page 116 is "But when Ellie awoke at Nan and Poppy's she was certain of where she was, certain she belonged there." This quote proves that Ellie feels comfortable at Nan and Poppy's and she never said she felt that comfortable at her own house. I predict that at some point in the book when Doris will abandon her family (i have predicted this before) that the Dingmans will go to Nan and Poppy for comfort and understanding.

First impressions

In this post I will talk about my first impressions of Doris and Ellie.

I believe that doris cares a lot about the way she looks and maybe herself becoming famous. In the story on page 19 it says "All she knew was that every time there was an oppurtunity for Doris to sing or dance or act in Spectacle, off she rushed, bragging about her resume." This quote proves that Doris cares a lot about the way she looks and being famous. I think that Doris is a very self-indulged person and only cares about making it on top.

I believe that Ellie is almost the leader of the 8 kids who live on Witch tree lane. Everybody always turns to her when they are bored and expects her to deligate them and say what they should do. In the story on page  28 it says " 'I'm bored Ellie' said Domi......They look at Ellie expectantly." This quote proves that all the witch tree lane kids look up to Ellie. I believe that later in the book Ellie would carry her siblings through there parents getting divorced (if that happens) and be strong enough to deal with it and move on.

Science project

This is Ellen Tidy grade six space reporter. Right now I am drifting through space and you wouldn't believe what I've seen. The effects of centrifugal force , eclipses, the moon's phases and much more. Now I'll tell you a little about how this all began.

Suns, Planets, and Satellites, What they are and How they are created

                                        

Before any of the planets were created there were two molecules in space. These two molecules crashed into each other at such a speed that they created heat and started to spin. The spinning attracted everything in space to come towards it which is centrifugal force. All of the lighter objects went into the middle ( rocks and minerals) and the heavier objects were farther away (the gas planets). All of the rocks in the middle started to crash into each other and form planets. They were so hot that when they crashed into each other they stuck together. There is an asteroid belt left around the rock planets which are left over rocks and minerals. A star is a ball of heat that produces light and is held together by its own gravity. A planet is an object in space that orbits around a star, has an atmosphere and reflects light. A satellite is a body in space that orbits around another object. The moon is a satellite to earth and the planets are a satellite to the sun. Now I'll talk about eclipses and you'll learn all about the moon.

 Solar and Lunar eclipses, The phases of the Moon and The Moon's impact on the Earth

An eclipse is when a body passes another and blocks its light source. There are two types of eclipses in space and they are a solar eclipse and a lunar eclipse. The moon is what covers the sun's light in a solar eclipse. Because of the size of the moon only a small part of the earth can witness the eclipse. From the distance we are from the sun the moon looks the same size because it is 1/400 the size of the sun and the sun is about 400 million km away. A lunar eclipse is when a planet is blocking out it's moon's light from the sun. Only a small amount of light reflects off the atmosphere on to the moon and because of that the weakest colour in the light spectrum is the colour of the moon. The weakest colour in the light spectrum is red.Before the moon was the moon it was another body or planet in space that got a little to close to the earth and got caught in its gravitational pull. The moon's orbital path around Earth takes about 28 days. On the first day it is a new moon, on the 7th day it is a quarter moon, on the 10th or 11th day is a half moon, the 14th day is when the moon is half way through its orbit, it is directly behind the earth and is full. From this point on in the moon's orbit it gets smaller again. On the 17th or 18th day the moon is half, the 21st day is a quarter and finally the 28th day is a new moon and another cycle is about to begin. The moon has its own gravitational pull that effects the Earth. The moon pulls the water in the oceans toward itself and when the earth spins away it gets pulled across the ocean before the moon lets go.Next I'll talk about Mars since I am going there.

 All about Mars

This is a picture of Mars with its two moons.



Mars is the planet 4th closest to the sun. It was named after the Greek god of war because the planet was red and looked like blood. Its moons are named Phobos and Deimos. Phobos was the god of panic fear, flight and battlefield rout and Deimos was the god of fear, dread and terror.Phobos and Deimos are Mars' sons which is why they are the moons of the planet Mars. Mars' core is made of iron and around the core is a lot of molten rock. Mars has a lot of hot spots under its surface that cause volcanoes. Mars has higher mountains, and deeper canyons than any other planet and is most similar to earth than any other planet.

I have witnessed these amazing sights and was glad to report back to you about them. I learned a TON about space and hope you have to. Who knows what wonders are left for you to explore in the never ending wonder of space. This is Ellen Tidy grade 6 space reporter signing out!

I notice in this story that there are a lot of similies. In this post please find your favourite or the strongest similie and explain why it is the strongest or your favourite.

My favourite similie explains a character right at the beginning and gives a strong mental image. The quote is "If she believes something she doesn't keep it in her head like private property with a no tresspassing sign up; she puts it out there in the world." This similie gives information about Addie very quickly. You wouldn't say this about just anybody and this gives a very strong mental image.

Hey misfits group

What do you all think about bobby's sudden idea about the no-name party? I think it really shows that bobby is a person full of ideas and that he is underestimating himself. In the story it says "I have always thought that i was just like him......all of a sudden i am thinking i am more like my mom. Not just a dreamer   but somebody who can make things happen." This quote proves that Bobby is underestimating himself. I think that Bobby's sudden change in character reminds me of Bryce's change in Flipped. They both realized that they were better than what they were before and they both realized this so suddenly. If you have any ideas about this or connections please comment below.
